St. James UMC Welcomes Its New Pastor (July 1, 2026)

Join us in welcoming Rev. Dr. Donald E. Williams and his beautiful family. We look foward to adventuring with the Lord together, as we further the Kingdom of God in West Alexandria. Here is a short biography of Dr. Williams and his work in ministry:

Reverend Dr. Donald E. Williams is a pastor, scholar, author, and public intellectual whose work explores the intersection of faith, theology, ethics, and contemporary culture. A graduate of the College of William & Mary, he earned both his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Duke University. Dr. Williams is the author of An Investigation into the Relationship Between Aristotelian Eudaimonia and Christian Discipleship: A Thomistic Perspective and The Art of Proclamation: The Sermons of Reverend Dr. Don Williams. His forthcoming book, Articles, Essays and Reflections: The Work of Dr. Donald E. Williams, will be released in August. A regular contributor to Good Faith Media and other Christian publications, he is widely recognized for his thoughtful engagement with theology, discipleship, preaching, and the relationship between faith and contemporary society.

We enjoyed a beautiful worship service, explored the Word, and had meaningful fellowship, all enhanced by duck donuts, brownies, and watermelon. Exciting Things Are Happening At St. James UMC. Come and See! (July 15, 2026)

At St. James we are improving our worship experience on Sunday mornings and beyond:

-Including several songs for worship, allowing believers to worship the Lord in song

-Focusing on strong pastoral preaching, conversational in style, but practical and inspiring

-Allowing believers to share in the communion celebration on Sunday(communion is spiritual food for the journey)

-Developing ideas to beautify our landscape to be more appealing to our neighbors

-Exploring new ways to serve our neighbors and make disciples for Christ

-Offering quarterly bible studies for cogregants to grow in their understanding of the Word and Christian discipleship
